NITRONIC 50, XM-19, UNS S20910 - specifications and application

Nitronic 50 is austenitic non-magnetic stainless steel with the addition of nitrogen, manganese and molybdenum, characterised by high mechanical properties (f.ex. resistance characteristics) and a very good corrosion resistance.

The grade exhibits comparable resistance to corrosion as basic austenitic grades , high yield point, resistance and stability of mechanical properties in low temperature environments, and some non-magnetism in the specific working conditions.

An additional attribute of the grade is the resistance to intergranular corrosion, seawater, salts, brittleness of the materials (pitting), chlorides, sulphur compounds, dithionic, nitric, phosphoric acids and formaldehyde. Resistance to the previously mentioned environment is dependent on the condition of the delivery of the material.

Steel is used for the production of chains, bolts, nuts, pumps, parts for installation of heat exchangers, springs, valve parts, fittings, flanges, valves, fittings in the petrochemical industry, chemical, nitric, nuclear, offshore, maritime industries and shipbuilding, cryogenic industry, and food industries.
