Stal 55S2, 50S2, 56Si7, 55Si7, 1.5026 - specifications and application
Silicon spring steel is one of the most popular, simple, basic and at the same time the longest used grades in the production of spring elements and springs in the automotive industry and railroading.
Silicon steels are characterized by high strength properties, low ductility, resilience, susceptibility to decarburization, resistance to medium loads, low hardenability, and difficult welding.
55S2, 50S2, 40S2 steels, as well as replacements EN/DIN 56Si7, 50Si7, 46Si7 have similar concentrations of alloy additives - including Silicon, which is responsible for the resilience of steel. Differences in grades result from the concentration of carbon, responsible for obtaining the appropriate hardness after heat treatment.
Silicon steel, found mainly in the form of round bars and hot rolled flat bars, is used for the production of spiral, disk, bumper, cone, coil and flat springs, springing rings and spring washers, springs for cultivators, springs of steam locomotives, personal and goods wagons, flat vehicle springs rail, spring plates, safety valve springs and check valves.
