Alloy spring steel. Applied for statically loaded, small and medium-size springs.

The material is a better alternative to the grade 51CrV4 / 1.8159

    • Density: 7.76 g/cm3
    • Yield strength Re: > 1300 MPa
    • Tensile strength Rm: 1450-1750 MPa
    • Elongation A: > 6 %
    • Percent reduction of area Z: > 35 %
    • Impact Value KU: > 10 J
      • + Annealed (+A):
        • Hardness HB: < 248
      • + Spheroized (+AC):
        • Hardness HB: < 230
      • + Treated to Improve Shearability (+S):
        • Hardness HB: < 280

Heat treatment and working

Recommended working and heat treatment parameters for 52SiCrNi5 alloy:

  • Forging: 1100-900 °C
  • Rolling: 1100-900 °C
  • Quenching: 840-870 °C
  • Tempering: 410-450 °C
  • Annealing: 670-680 °C
  • Normalising: 860-870 °C
