45NiCrMo16, 1.2767, 40NiCrMo16 steel - specifications and applications
Alloy cold working steel with very high hardenability, ductility, resistance to pressure, abrasion and high impact strength. The material is used for the production of shears for cutting steel sheets and sections, stamping dies, hydraulic chisels, cold forging dies, hardened knives, stamps, punches or moulds for the production of plastics. The grade is characterized by high strength, load resistance, tempering and fatigue resistance. The grades 45NiCrMo16 and 40NiCrMo16 have been enriched with additional content of nickel, and molybdenum in the chemical composition.
Mechanical properties of 45NiCrMo16, 1.2767
- Hardness in annealed condition: <260 HB
- Hardness after hardening and tempering at temperatures:
- 100℃ = 56 HRC
- 200℃ = 54 HRC
- 300℃ = 50 HRC
- 400℃ = 46 HRC
- 500℃ = 42 HRC
- 600℃ = 38 HRC
Mechanical properties of 35NiCrMo16, 1.2766
- Hardness in annealed condition: <260 HB
- Hardness after hardening and tempering at temperatures:
- 100℃ = 56 HRC
- 200℃ = 54 HRC
- 300℃ = 51 HRC
- 400℃ = 48 HRC

Mechanical properties of NPW steel according to PN-86/H-85023
- Hardness in softened condition: <269 HB
- Hardness after hardening and tempering at temperatures:
- 200℃ >50 HRC
- 250℃ >50 HRC
- 300℃ >50 HRC
- 350℃ >50 HRC
- 400℃ >49 HRC
- 450℃ >47.1 HRC
- 500℃ = 45.2 HRC
- 550℃ = 43.2 HRC
Heat treatment of individual steel grades:
- 45NiCrMo16, 1.2767
- Annealing at 610 - 650℃ with furnace cooling
- Relief annealing at 600 - 650℃
- Hardening at 840 - 870℃ in air, oil or salt bath.
- 35NiCrMo16, 1.2766
- Annealing at 590 - 610℃ with furnace cooling
- Relief annealing at 600 - 650℃
- Hardening at 820 - 840℃ in air, oil or salt bath.
- NPW steel
- Softening at 580 - 600℃
- Stress relieving at 550 - 600℃
- Hardening at 810 - 840℃
