31CrV2, 1.2208 - specification and application
Cold working tool steel for basic everyday mechanical tools such as screwdrivers, wrenches, screwdrivers, sockets. Water-hardening steel.
Mechanical properties:
- Annealed condition +A: <220 HB
- Hardness after hardening: 52-54 HRC
- Hardness after tempering at temperature:
- 100C = 52 HRC
- 200C = 50 HRC
- 300C = 47 HRC
- 400C = 43 HRC
- 500C = 44 HRC
Heat treatment
- Softening annealing at 700 +/-20C with air cooling
- Hardening at a temperature of 845 +/-15C with water cooling
- Stress relief annealing at a temperature of 665 - 15C
