1.4521, X2CrMoTi18-2, AISI 444 – description
1.4521 steel is used for parts produced by cold forming, such as bolts, nuts, hot water tanks, chimney ducts and heat exchangers.
The steel is suitable for underwater applications, provided that the concentration of Cl-chlorides does not exceed 200 ppm. For hot water or more conservative design requirements, the limit is lowered.
The steel belongs to welding group 7.1 according to ISO. Weldability good for small cross-sections, limited for larger ones. Prior to welding, heating is recommended.

Heat treatment and working
Recommended working and heat treatment parameters for 1.4521 alloy:

- Rolling: 1050-750 °C; Water, air or gas cooling.
- Annealing: 750-900 °C; Air or gas cooling. Furnance cooling in special cases.
