1.2990 / X100CrMoV8-1-1 – description

Cold-working ledeburitic tool steel for punches, dies, progressive dies, cold rolls, woodworking tools, rotary cutters and rotary shear blades. Strong, hard and hardenable.

Physical and mechanical properties

The hardness after soft annealing: max 250 HBW.

The hardness after toughening depends on the tempering temperature:

  • Tempering temperature: 100 °C - 62-64 HRC
  • Tempering temperature: 200 °C - 59 HRC
  • Tempering temperature: 300 °C - 57-59 HRC
  • Tempering temperature: 400 °C - 58-60 HRC
  • Tempering temperature: 500 °C - 60-63 HRC
  • Tempering temperature: 500 °C - 60-63 HRC
  • Tempering temperature: 525 °C - 60-63 HRC
  • Tempering temperature: 550 °C - 59-61 HRC
  • Tempering temperature: 575 °C - 55-57 HRC
  • Tempering temperature: 600 °C - 46-48 HRC

Thermal conductivity:

  • Testing temperature: 25 °C - 34,2 W/(m*K)
  • Testing temperature: 100 °C - 25,9 W/(m*K)
  • Testing temperature: 150 °C - 26,8 W/(m*K)
  • Testing temperature: 200 °C - 27,1 W/(m*K)
  • Testing temperature: 300 °C - 27,4 W/(m*K)
  • Testing temperature: 400 °C - 27,2 W/(m*K)
  • Testing temperature: 500 °C - 26,8 W/(m*K)

Coefficient of thermal expansion:

  • Temperature range: 20-100 °C - 11,4 10-6*m/(m*K)
  • Temperature range: 20-150 °C - 11,6 10-6*m/(m*K)
  • Temperature range: 20-200 °C - 11,7 10-6*m/(m*K)
  • Temperature range: 20-250 °C - 11,9 10-6*m/(m*K)
  • Temperature range: 20-300 °C - 12,0 10-6*m/(m*K)
  • Temperature range: 20-350 °C - 12,1 10-6*m/(m*K)
  • Temperature range: 20-400 °C - 12,3 10-6*m/(m*K)
  • Temperature range: 20-450 °C - 12,4 10-6*m/(m*K)
  • Temperature range: 20-500 °C - 12,6 10-6*m/(m*K)
