45SiCrV6, 1.2249 - specification and application
Cold working tool steel with high impact strength, impact resistance, high strength, machinability and dimensional stability after heat treatment. Similar in properties to spring grades. The material is used for the production of parts of load-bearing blades, pneumatic forging hammers, punches, riveting hammers, blanking dies, scissor blades, woodworking tools, punching blades, drill pins, stamping tools.
Mechanical properties
- Hardness in softening annealed condition: <219HB
- Hardness after hardening: >58 HRC
- Hardness after hardening and tempering at temperature
- 200C = 57 HRC
- 300C = 53 HRC
- 400C = 51 HRC
- 500C = 46 HRC
- 600C = 38 HRC
Heat treatment of 45SiCrV6, 1.2249 steel:
- Softening annealing at a temperature of 710-780C
- Relief annealing at a temperature of 640-680°C
- Hardening in oil at 860-890C
- Tempering at temperature of 180-300C
